The Woolen Mills Neighborhood is located at the eastern edge of Charlottesville with its boundaries traced by the Rivanna River. The community is one of the oldest in the city, rooted in the history of the Charlottesville Woolen Mill. The mill opened in the mid 1800’s and was operational for more than a century. Residents of the neighborhood still enjoy the community’s beginnings, with the 19th Century Woolen Mills Chapel standing tall on East Market Street. Boasting short commutes to the Downtown Mall and nearby Pantops area, Woolen Mills is a popular location for those looking to settle in the city.
